Green Valley Golf Course

Green Valley Golf Course—and for once, no one melted! In what could only be described as a near-arctic experience (by Pattaya standards), players actually wore sleeves, and some even claimed to feel “a breeze.”

At the top of the pile was Grant Pride (8) with a tidy 35 points, proving once again that even blind squirrels occasionally find a nut. Right behind him was Walter Baechle (20) on 34 points, reminding everyone that consistency and a slow backswing can still beat youth and optimism. Rounding out the podium was Mark “Smoothie” Smith (18) with 32 points, who managed to keep his shirt tucked in for most of the round—an achievement in itself.

Darryl Creighton (19) and Jim Gelendel (21) both finished on 30 points, with Darryl taking it on countback. Jim was last seen still arguing with his scorecard and a calculator.

Near Pins:

Hole 5: Grant Pride’s majestic 6-iron to five feet looked professional—right up until he missed the putt, naturally.

Hole 8: Michael Lupton, with what he described as a “lazy” 9-iron, somehow landed on the green. Nobody’s quite sure how.

Hole 11: Key Parks fired an 8-iron pin high, showing rare accuracy—rumour has it he’s still smiling.

Hole 16: Brad Simpson produced a beautiful 144-yard pitching wedge… followed by a missed birdie attempt, keeping the tradition alive.

Despite all those near pins, no birdies were recorded—proving once again that we are truly a society of almost golfers.

Cool weather, good laughs, and questionable putting—just another perfect day out with the Links Golf Society!
